Made to beat the Camaro and the Firebird, the 1993 Cobra's 235 horsepower and 280 ft-lbs of torque provided 0-60 acceleration times of 5.7 seconds for the Cobra and 5.5 seconds for the Cobra R, and a quarter-mile time of 14.5 seconds, reaching 98 mph trap speed. With a base MSRP of $18,205, the Cobra proved understandably popular, and it is even more valued today. The Cobra slithered powerfully onto the road every year after that, up to the highly esteemed 2003-2004 model years. During these years, the Cobra got a dual scoop hood, 17-inch wheels, a cast iron engine block, tough 31-spline differential and a 3.55:1 gear ratio for the rear axle, all adding up to a fiery 4.5 second 0-60 mph time and a 12.5 second average quarter-mile at a 110 mph trap speed. 2003 also gained the Tenth Anniversary Edition Cobra, while the 2004 SVT Cobra featured 1,010 vehicles painted with the color-changing Mystichrome hue.
