How to install a Performance Thermostat on your 1979-1995 Mustang

Caution: Make sure engine, radiator and coolant are cool before starting.

1. Drain cooling system.
2. Remove thermostat housing, thermostat and gasket.
3. Clean gasket mounting surfaces thoroughly.
4. Insert thermostat (cone end toward radiator) Into recessed groove of Intake manifold.
5. Install new gasket. (Gasket sealer Is recommended to prevent coolant leakage).
6. Reinstall thermostat housing and tighten mounting bolts evenly.
7. Fill cooling system to proper level and start engine, leave pressure cap off.
8. Once engine has reached normal operating temperature, recheck coolant level, add if needed and Install pressure cap.
9. Check all connections for coolant leaks.
