The 2015 Dodge Charger is a distinctive, retro-themed full-size sedan with muscle car capability thanks to highly potent V8 engines. Thoroughly revamped for the 2015 model year, this Dodge Charger has new front and rear-end styling that gives it a sleeker look, while the interior was upgraded with higher-quality materials and a bigger selection of electronic features. Its four engine options are spread across seven trim models: the base SE and SXT models come standard with a 3.6L V6 that reaches 292HP. The R/Ts and Road & Tracks feature a 5.7L V8 with 370HP, while the Scat Pack trim adds a 485HP 6.4L V8, performance exhaust, and Brembo brakes. The SRT 392 model benefits from the Scat Pack trim plus an additional Bilstein adaptive suspension. Rounding out the 2015 lineup is the SRT Hellcat with a supercharged 6.2L V8 capable of an outrageous 707hp rounds up the lineup on the SRT Hellcat. The lower V8s can reach 60mph in around five seconds; the Hellcat can do it in under four.
Tap into Enhanced Performance
The average Charger rolls off the shop floor designed for the daily driving experience. To really enhance the core performance of your 2015 Charger, you’ll need to tweak different settings with a tuner. Also often referred to as a programmer, a tuner is a handheld device that taps into a vehicle’s internal CPU and can modify the factory default settings. In a modern car with electronic fuel injection, the CPU is the engine control unit that gathers and interprets the data from different sensor readings all over the car. A tuner will use the Charger’s OBD2 diagnostics port to access that data and input various changes to different factory thresholds, such as horsepower, torque, fuel economy and throttle response. Tuners are available as a touchscreen similar to a smartphone or a simpler device with a LCD screen. A flash or power tuner can come preloaded with its manufacturer's own pre-configured tune files. Maximum performance can be achieved by working with the tune company and instead having them make a custom tune based on the information you give them. Other features and benefits of a tuner include:
- Data Logging & Monitoring: providing real-time onscreen tracking of sensor data such as peed, RPMs, air/fuel ratio and boost. Some models can also be connected to a laptop to allow for further data analysis later on.
- Diagnostics: A tuner can diagnose engine trouble codes
- Save & reload settings: Particularly helpful in avoiding voiding your warranty, a tuner will save and store your Charger’s factory settings and other custom tunes that can then be re-loaded the next time you want them.
There are numerous different tuners now available for a Dodge Charger, with models designed for older and newer models. So when deciding on a tuner for your Charger, make sure to input the specific make, model and engine size to avoid any non-compatibility issues later on.
Hellcat Style
2015 marked the launch of the top-of-the-line SRT Hellcat, with its incredible power, and aggressive muscle car style. While other trims will not be able to match its performance, achieving the Hellcat look can be accomplished with a key exterior modifications. To mimic the Hellcat’s performance hood with center air intake and dual heat extractors, the SE through R/T Road & Track models can swap out their standard factory hood for a racing-inspired one, featuring an air vent scoop that will improve air flow and engine cooling alongside the style bump. Most are shipped unpainted and so can be matched to your exact paint color, or left black to add visual contrast instead. Conversion front bumper kits include all the frontend styling cues of the Hellcat, including the redesigned and more substantial front fascia and grille cutouts. At the rear, bumper kits here too can add the more muscular SRT design to base models. 2015 Hellcat wheels feature a split 7-spoke design, and are available in black or Brass Monkey (bronze). These are also easily available as aftermarket add-ons for your personal Charger. Don’t forget new red caliper covers to really complete the bold and powerful SRT look.
