Supplies Needed:
Prep:
Fill one spray bottle with water, mixing in a few drops of baby shampoo. Fill the other spray bottle with a 60% water, 40% Isopropyl Alcohol solution. Thoroughly clean the area of the vehicle that protection film will be applied. This includes removing any grease or wax that may be present as this can hinder the adhesion properties of the film.
STEP 1
Thoroughly spray the front of the hood with the soap & water solution.
STEP 2
Peel the protection film from the adhesive backing, making sure to soak it in the water & soap solution as you are removing it.
STEP 3
Place the film over the hood aligning it to the front edge and side edges of the hood. Lift up the edges of the film and spray the alcohol/water solution under the film. This will allow the adhesive on the film to become tacky, allowing you to stretch the film tithe edges.
STEP 4
Once you have the film stretched to the edges of the hood, use the supplied squeegee and remove all of the air bubbles by pushing them out towards the edges as shown.
STEP 5
Once the edges of the hood are free of any air bubbles, use the squeegee to remove any bubbles from the center section of the hood. Be sure to work from the center out and be gentle to avoid tearing the film.
Lower Quarter Panel Film:
STEP 1
Thoroughly spray the area with the water & soap solution.
STEP 2
Peel the protection film from the adhesive backing, making sure to soak it in the water & soap solution as you are removing it.
STEP 3
Place the film on the lower quarter around the side marker light as shown.
STEP 4
Spray the water/alcohol solution under the film towards the rear of the panel as shown.
STEP 5
The alcohol solution applied in Step 4 will allow the film to adhere to the upper portion of the panel while you use the squeegee to form it to the lower panel as shown.
STEP 6
Once the film is properly formed to the vehicle, use the squeegee to push any remaining air bubbles out towards the edges of the film.
This completes the installation of your 3M Paint Protection Film. Do not wash vehicle for 24 hours after application. Never use pigmented or paste waxes on the film.
