Required Tools:

 10mm Deep Socket *Needs to be DEEP*

Installation Time: 45 Minutes

Installation Instructions:

1. Open the trunk all the way and look for (2) 10mm nuts that hold the light to the trunk of the car and carefully remove them. Note: When removing my 10mm nuts, the one on the driver side was ripped out of the original Ford brake light, so I had to go to Home Depot to purchase another 10mm nut and washer.

2. On the driver side, press the clip in on the wiring harness and pulling. Be careful with this step as the older plastic is very easy to break.

3. With the wiring harness now disconnected, and the nuts removed, you can lift the brake light out now. You can push up from inside the trunk and catch it with your other hand.

4. Now, with the original brake light out of the car, disconnect the wiring harness by pulling the wires out carefully from the circular plugs and carefully twist the bulb to release them. The end of the wiring harness that was attached to the trunk that we removed in step 2 is the hardest part to get out. Try wiggling it and pulling firmly to get it to snap out of its socket.

5. Now you can remove 4 of the 5 bulbs you see. The 5th one that you do NOT want to remove is farthest from the black wiring harness connector that was removed in the last part of step 4. The bulb farthest away from it is your trunk bulb and will go into the LED brake light.

6. Now, instead of putting in new light bulbs, you will take the red tip of the two wires poking out of the light bulb sockets on the new brake light, and snap it into each light bulb harness socket until it is very firmly stuck in.

7. Your harness work is done now. Proceed to reinstalling the new brake light into the deck lid/trunk. Connect the wiring harness from the trunk to the new brake lights. Make sure all your lights work. (see below). Reconnect the two 10mm bolts.

8. Now you can compare the old one to the new one and enjoy!
