1. Remove the two air breather lines from the Air Intake. The one closest to the fender can be pulled directly off. The other can be removed by rotating the gray catch counter clockwise and pulling the black connector off. (Note: This was done on a car with a previously installed BBK Cold Air Intake. (Model #1778) Installation of the Throttle Body with the stock Cold Air Intake will not be significantly different.)
2. Disconnect the wiring harness from the OEM throttle body by first pulling up on the red slide so that clicks open. Then firmly press against the side of the throttle body with your thumb, while pull back to pull the wiring harness free.
3. In order to separate the wiring harness from the Throttle Body, gently pry the press-in connector attached to the wiring harness from the throttle body. A small screw driver and needle nose pliers will be helpful.
4. A. Loosen the hose clamp(s) connecting the cold air intake to the Throttle Body. (Note: There may only be one hose clamp on an OEM CAI) B. Remove the tape holding the sensor line to the top of the Throttle Body.
5. Once the hose clamp is loose, pull back on the Cold air intake sleeve to separate it from the throttle body.
6. You can now loosen and remove the four bolts that connect the stock throttle body to the intake manifold. For this you will need an 8mm wrench and / or socket with ratchet.
7. Once you have removed all four bolts, the throttle body will be free. Safely place the OEM throttle body to the side. Ensure that the stock blue-green seal that is between the throttle body and the intake manifold is clean and is in good condition. It will need to stay in place for the new, BBK throttle body.
8. Align the four bolt holes on the new throttle body with the inserts on the intake manifold. There are four new bolts supplied with the Throttle body kit from BBK. These will require a 5mm Allen wrench to tighten them. (Note: the installation instructions from BBK says that the bolts are 4mm; not sure why these were 5mm)
9. Tighten the four new bolts down with the Allen Wrench until they are snug. Do not over tighten.
10. Once the new throttle body is bolted on, it is time to reconnect the Cold Air Intake. (Note: When sliding the blue rubber sleeve on the BBK Model 1778 cold air intake, the connection to the new throttle body is very snug. Use a light film of dish soap or silicone to help the sleeve slide over the throttle body mouth.) Once the Cold Air Intake is connected to the new Throttle Body, tighten all hose clamps.
11. A. Re-Attach the throttle body harness. Ensure the red clip in pushed back down to lock the harness in place. B. Also press the wiring harness clip back into the new throttle body.
12. Reconnect the two breather air lines on the cold air intake. Installation is complete.
