Types of Mustang Seat Covers

The variety of Mustang seat covers can be seen in the variety of Mustang themselves. From color matching neoprene to smooth leather, they all serve the same purpose of protecting your Mustang’s seats but which is the best for your ride? On the more budget-minded side of things, you have universal style seat covers that tend to be stretchy and sit over your seat like a loose t-shirt. These do tend to have the most diverse designs, however, such as the tri-bar pony logo, and many others. If durability is a concern and you’re not looking to protect your seats from just a weekend at the beach, custom fitted leather or vinyl covers are more tear resistant and won’t thin out as quickly as cotton based covers.

Installing and Caring for Mustang Seat Covers

Installing Mustang seat covers is usually tightening some straps around the back and the bottom of your seats. Other covers are a stretch fit, while the best Mustang seat covers have zippers. For tighter fitting covers, we recommend leaving them out in the sun for ten to twenty minutes to expand the material (less time for darker colors). Leather in particular is especially malleable when heated. Leather and vinyl type covers will need specific cleaners to maintain their longevity, but cotton and other fabric based covers can be machine washed. Keep in mind any embroidered or otherwise decorated covers may be damaged in a washing machine. It’s best to remove these and use a carpet cleaner to remove stains. Be sure not to scrub too hard, or you risk damaging the material.
