Mustang Tuners and Commonly Paired Mods

On average, our best Mustang tunes boost horsepower and torque by upwards of 30 HP and 40 ft-lbs of torque. Namely by adjusting air/fuel ratios. From the factory, Mustangs aren’t tuned for maximum horsepower. At least most of them aren’t. Even if you don’t have any engine mods, a tune can boost power output. Best paired with a camshaft, or even more minor performance mods like cold air intakes. Often times tuners are sold with a cold air intake, making for a solid performance package. In terms of stock setups, EcoBoost Mustangs tend to benefit the most from tunes considering how much the turbo system benefits from a programming update.

Older Mustangs and Chips

Not all Mustangs can utilize a plug-a-play tuner. Particularly OBD1 and older ‘Stangs. Foxbody Mustang and the like utilize chips that need to be spliced into the computer. While these take more time to install, and more care, you still have the option to select from multiple tunes. Usually in the form of a dial you can mount on your dashboard. Changing the tunes loaded onto the chip is also a more complicated process, but the result is the best tune for your Foxbody.
