HOW TO INSTALL A BLACK MMD BOLT ON HOOD STRUT KIT ON YOUR 1999-2004 MUSTANG

Prop your hood open and remove the 8mm fender bolt shown above (Do not remove the rear-most bolt that secures the hood hinge). Place the lower mounting bracket as shown and re-install the fender bolt. 

Use a 10mm socket to remove the forward-most hood hinge nut. Loosen the rear nut about 1/4" (enough to slide in the rear mounting bracket). 

Slide the upper bracket between the rear-most nut and hood hinge and place it over the exposed front stud as shown. Once in place, tighten rear nut and re-install front nut. 

Pop the ends of the strut over the ball mounts on the brackets. Repeat steps 1-4 for drivers side. (Do not slam hood shut yet.) Check bumper/fender alignment by slowly lowering the hood. If okay, remove factory prop rod and enjoy. 

Remove the retaining clip. Place strut on the ball stud. Then reinstall the retaining clip. 

**Note: Make sure the retaining clip slides all the way through.
