How to Install a Ford Racing High Performance 9mm Spark Plug Wires on your 1996-1998 SVT Cobra Musta

Aprox. 1 hour.


Tools Required:


 Socket wrench
 8mm socket
 11mm socket
 Flat head screwdriver


1: Remove strut tower brace, if equipped.


2: Remove vacuum hoses from intake tube. There is one on the front and one on the back.


NOTE: My car no longer has a vacuum hose connected in the rear position. In the picture, there is a red plug where your vacuum hose will be located.



3: Disconnect IAT sensor.


4: Loosen ring clamps using an 8mm socket and remove intake tube.




5: Using an 11mm socket, remove the 4 nuts holding the spark plug wire cover onto the valve cover, and remove the spark plug wire cover.


6: Remove the old plug wires.


7: Remove the wires from the ignition coils.


Repeat steps 5-7 on other side

Install new Ford Racing plug wires. Note that each wire is labeled with its cylinder number. Look at the image below for wire locations.


9: Reinstall spark plug wire covers.


10: Reinstall intake tube.


11: Reconnect IAT sensor and vacuum hoses.


12: Reinstall strut tower brace if equipped.


Congratulations, you’re done!
