How to Install a Motorcraft Locking Fuel Cap on Your 1999-2004 V6 Mustang and Mustang GT

Required Tools:

Multi Bit Ratcheting Screwdriver
T15 Bit (Torx)

Installation Instructions:

1. Use Multi Bit Ratcheting Screwdriver with T15 Bit and unscrew top and bottom screws (Circled in Red). You can just unscrew the bottom one, but step three will require a little more effort.

2. Remove Gas Cap (Like you were going to put gas in the vehicle.)

3. The bottom screw is how the current gas cap stays attached. Press on the inside, below the gas cap as shown in picture and you’ll be able to remove easily.

4. Insert new gas cap and test key.

5. After putting in new gas cap, make sure you line up the bottom screw with new gas cap.

6. Let it Hang; to make sure you did Step 5 correctly!
