Preparation for Installation:
1. Place vehicle on a solid level surface to ensure safe installation
2. Place wheel blocks in front of and behind both front wheels to prevent movement in either direction.
3. Carefully place floor jack under front engine cross member. Be careful not to damage rack and pinion unit.
4. Raise front of vehicle up with floor jack and place automotive approved support stands having adequate load capacity under lower control arms.
5. Lower floor jack until control arms are resting securely on the support stands.
Drive Shaft Loop Assembly:
1. Carpet needs to be pulled back to install mounting bolts.
2. Assemble safety loop around drive shaft as shown below. Adjust the loop size accordingly and tighten bolts firmly to hold unit together
3. Hold safety loop into position at the rear of the yoke weld on the drive shaft and mark holes with center punch. On vehicles equipped with 02 sensors, position safety loop behind sensors and in front of exhaust crossover pipe. (See photo on back of page), Next, drill four (4) holes, size 3/8" in floor on each side. Secure the safety loop to floor with the supplied bolts, nuts and washers. Put bolts down through floor under carpet and through safety loop assembly, and pinion unit.
4. This Drive Shaft Safety Loop is designed to fit the floor contour. Use the spacers provided to keep unit level with floor when mounting, See drawing below.
