Maximum Motorsports designed the Mm5KM-9 Crossmember Brace Adaptor Brackets specifically for our customers who are also installing the Mm5KM-7 K-member onto their 2011-14 Mustangs. These brackets allow the installation of the OEM crossmember brace connecting the OEM radiator core support to the MM K-member.
Read all instructions before beginning work. Following instructions in the proper sequence will ensure the best and easiest installation.
• These instructions assume that the Mm5KM-9 Crossmember Brace Adaptor Brackets are being installed at the same time as the Mm5KM-7 K-member.
1. Identify the passenger-side and driver-side brackets by locating the notch on each.
2. Install the brackets into the forward mounting tabs of the Mm5KM-7 K-member. The flat mounting surface of the brackets should be facing down, with the notch facing forward. Install a supplied M12 bolt, with a 7/16” washer, from the outboard side of each bracket. Then install a supplied M12-1.75 flange nut onto each bolt.
3. Install the crossmember brace onto the stock radiator core support, but don’t tighten the bolts yet.
NOTE: If retaining the factory splash guard, make sure it’s installed on the brace prior to installing the brace itself.
4. Install the supplied M10 bolts and 3/8” washers to secure the brace to the K-member adaptor brackets, but don’t tighten them yet.
5. Torque the M10 bolts that attach the crossmember brace to the adaptor brackets to 43 Nm (32 lb-ft).
6. Torque the 4 factory bolts that secure the crossmember brace to the radiator core support to 65 Nm (48 lb-ft).
7. Torque the 12mm hardware that secures the adaptor bracket to the K-member to 75 Nm (55 lb-ft).
