      Description

Capacitive Discharge. The MSD 6AL Digital Ignition features a capacitor which is quickly charged (within one millisecond) to 520-535 volts and stores it until the ignition is triggered. With the Capacitive Discharge design, the voltage sent to the coil is always at full power even at high rpms unlike conventional stock inductive ignitions which requires the coil to store and step up the voltage in between each firing which can result in a loss of power or top end miss.

More Efficient. Inside the Digital 6AL you'll find a high speed RISC micro-controller that constantly monitors and controls every firing and rev limit. The circuitry has been updated with highly efficient components that help the ignition produce more power while drawing less current. The new Digital 6AL delivers well over 530 volts to the coil with up to 135mJ of spark energy for every firing. Increased output combined with MSD's proven multiple spark series is a winning combination.

Multiple Sparks. The MSD 6AL produces full power multiple sparks for each firing of a plug. The numberof multiple sparks decrease as your rpm's increase, however the spark series always lasts for 20° of crankshaft rotation. For rpm's above 3,000 there is simply not enough "time" to fire the spark plug multiple times, so there is only one powerful spark.

Soft Touch Rev Control. MSD developed the Soft Touch rev control system to prevent over-rev damage to your engine in the event of a missed shift or drive line failure. MSD designed the rpm limit to be adjustable in 100 rpm increments with plug-in modules. When the engine reaches the selected limit, the Soft Touch circuitry begins dropping the spark to various cylinders. On the next cycle, these plugs are fired again to prevent fuel from loading up in the cylinder. The result is a smooth and accurate limiting action without backfires or roughness.

Application. The MSD 6AL Digital Ignition Module with Rev Control will work on all Mustangs that are equipped with a 12-15 volt electrical system, including 4, 6 or 8-cylinder engines.
