How to Install a MSD Coil Pack on your 1996-1998 Mustang GT

Installation Instructions:

1: Remove spark plug wires.

NOTE: If you’re not replacing the plug wires, and therefore not removing the cover on the valve covers, then be sure to either mark the wires as you remove them, so you know where they go when you’re putting them back on, or transfer them one by one to the new coils.

2: Remove the electrical connector from the old coils. A small screwdriver will make this easier. Just be careful not to break the clips.

3: Remove the 4 bolts from the coils using a 7mm socket.

4: Remove the old ignition coil.

5: Install the new MSD ignition coil and secure it with the supplied bolts, using a 4mm Allen wrench.

NOTE: There is a small electrical connector mounted to one of the bolts on each coil. Be sure they get re-installed with the new coils.

6: Reinstall the electrical connectors to the MSD ignition coils.

7: Reconnect the spark plug wires if not already installed in 1.

Congratulations, now you’re done!
