1. Drain coolant but make sure it’s COOL ( I used the top hose connected to the part you are going to replace)
2. Remove hose use screw driver or channel locks (Depends on how it secured)
3. Disconnect the lower/smaller hose 5/16 socket or appropriate screw driver
4. Undo both bolts from water neck . inch deep well or socket
5. Remove the OLD water neck. Pull straight off.
6. Take off old gasket & clean areas were the gasket was removed. I used a razor blade scraper & finished with 60 grit sandpaper
7. NOW HERE IS WHAT I DID: Take Teflon tape & wrap around the plastic plug. Do the same to the metal intake piece (the piece that the small hose will connect to.) Take the plastic cap and install into the water neck.
8. NOW IS THE TIME TO REPLACE THE OLD THERMOSTAT (if you want to as I did)
9. Put the new gasket over inlet & use the sealer to keep in place.(let stand 10 minutes)
10.Install thermostat into water neck (correct direction) & sealer around edges to help. I also put some sealer on the new gasket.
11.Put washers on the screws and start to thread by hand (either hole) Once both are started begin to tighten all the way. (6mm hex key socket I think
12.After they are tight grab the NEW Intake piece. Start to thread by hand & finish with a 7/8 box end wrench.
13.Once secure reinstall all the hoses, add water & check for leaks!!! Then start engine & check again.
That’s it you’re finished and the Chrome Water Neck looks GREAT!!
