How To Install a RTR Decklid Panel - Black - on your 2010-2014 Mustang

1. With the deck lid open, remove the (2) phillips screws that secure the lower corners of the factory trim panel. (Screws will not be re-used.)

2. Remove factory panel. Use a flat panel tool, preferably plastic to release the clips from the back side of the factory panel. The second image shows a close up of the clips.

3. (OPTION 1) Remove the “Bump”. NOTE: A few different methods may be used for this step. Use the method that you feel most comfortable with performing.

First method below: Place protective blanket to catch metal shavings, drill a starter hole (1/4” drill) and cut with an air body saw. CAUTION: Do NOT cut through the inside layer of sheet metal.

4. Remove and discard the “Bump”. Remove any burrs. IMPORTANT: Apply the supplied rust/corrosion inhibitor to edges of the cut.

5. (OPTION 2) Use a 5” hole saw to remove the “Bump”

IMPORTANT: Apply the supplied rust/corrosion inhibitor to the cut edges.

CAUTION: Do NOT cut through the inside layer of sheet metal.

6. Clean the perimeter of the deck lid with the provided alcohol packs and allow to dry.

7. Apply the supplied adhesion promoter to the bonding area. CAUTION: Do not apply adhesion promoter above the bonding area; it will leave a visible residue. Excess promoter can be cleaned off with was and grease remover if needed.

8. Install the RTR applique. Peel the red backing off the 3M tape to create “ pull tabs”. Align the decklid, press the corners of the the applique to hold it in place, then continue to press the 3M tape along the length.
