How to Install RTR Tactical Performance Adjustable Front Strut (15-20 GT, EcoBoost, V6) on your Ford Mustang

Tools Required
  • Jack and Jack Stand
  • Spring Compressor
  • 3/8 ratchet
  • 15mm socket
  • 17mm socket
  • 19mm socket
  • 21mm socket
  • 24mm socket
  • 17mm wrench
  • 7/16 wrench
  • 7/8 wrench
  • Hammer

Installation Instructions:

  • Start by safely jacking or lifting the vehicle using a jack and jack stands or a lift
  • Remove the two front wheels
  • Remove the two 15mm bolts that secure the caliper to the hub and secure the caliper out of the way
  • Remove the rotor

  • Disconnect the sway bar link that connects to the strut using a 19mm socket and 17mm wrench
  • Remove the two 24mm nuts that are securing the bottom of the strut

  • Thread the nut back on so it sits flush and then hammer them out
  • Pull the wheel speed sensor clips out of the strut
  • Pop the hood and remove the three 15mm nuts that secure the strut to the strut tower

  • Safely compress the spring and remove the 21mm nut that secures the strut to the top ha

  • Once they are separated, remove the bump stop/ dust boot along with the bottom rubber spring seat

  • Install those three pieces onto the new shock
  • Re-mount the spring onto the shock and secure the top hat using the provided 7/8 nut and lock washer

  • Reinstall the strut on the car by fishing up the three studs through the strut tower and install the 15mm nuts
  • Reconnect the sway bar link and the two large bolts
  • Thread on the two 24mm nuts and tighten them until the bolt is pulled completely through
  • Push the two sensor tabs back onto the strut 

  • Reinstall the rotor and caliper using the two 15mm bolts
  • Repeat these steps for the opposite side
  • Reinstall wheels lower vehicle and enjoy
