Note: If you are working alone – you should use a Vise to secure the Dipstick handle while removing and installing the roll pin.
(1) Engage Emergency Brake or insure in Park for Automatics.
(1) Open hood and remove plastic Dipstick. Have your Assistant (or the Vise) hold the dipstick securely. Prepare to use the hammer to gently punch the rolling pin.
(2) Tap the rolling pin firmly until enough of it appears so that you can pull the pin free with the pliers.
(Note: You should not hit the pin so hard that you drive it right through to the floor. It will be difficult to locate and you risk damaging it – it has to be reinstalled)
(3) Insert the Dipstick into the Chrome Handle, holding up to the light to insure that the dipstick is aligned to receive the rolling pin.
(4) Use your Assistant or a Vise to secure the Chrome Handle and tap the rolling pin into place. Use your pliers to hold the pin when tapping it in as needed.
