Pre-Installation Picture:
Note: Start with one coil pack and move to the next after completely finishing the previous one. It can help to start with one side and on one end and to move across as you go.
Step 1:
Remove the negative battery terminal with a ¼ socket/wrench
Step 2:
Remove the air intake pipe by loosening the clamps on the upper and lower ends with a flat head screwdriver.
Note: This could be different if you have an aftermarket air intake.
Step 3:
Locate a coil pack under the fuel rail. Then using a 7mm socket, remove the bolt holding the coil pack in. Then continue to pull the coil pack out by hand.
Note: It can be a good idea to try and use compressed air to clean around each coil pack before removing each one. If dust/dirt gets into your spark plug hole (Like in the picture shown), try to clean it out before putting the new coil pack in.
Step 4:
Place the new coil pack into the hole. Make sure it is seated down far enough and then replace the 7mm bolt. Tighten the bolt just to a snug feel leaving no vertical motion in the coil pack.
Step 5:
At this point, you can continue to follow the same steps for the next 7 coil packs.
Step 6:
If all 8 coil packs are replaced and working great, reconnect the air intake and enjoy your new healthy Mustang!!!
