Dodge Challenger Supercharger Kits & Accessories

Get head-spinning power gains with 2008-2022 Challenger supercharger kits from AmericanMuscle. If you're thinking about adding a turbocharger or supercharger to your Challenger, there are a few things to consider:

First, the difference between a turbocharger and a supercharger. Many in the industry throw the terms around like they're synonymous, but there are significant differences. Whereas a turbocharger pulls its power from the exhaust flow, a supercharger draws power from the crankshaft itself. A turbo isn't connected to the engine and usually includes smog altering equipment for lower carbon emissions, making them more street-friendly. A supercharger connects directly to the engine with a belt and doesn't filter emissions.

What does all that mean for your Challenger? The answer to that depends on your goals. Here's the short of it: if you want your boost at the lower end of your RPM band, say for insane launches, a supercharger is the way to go. If you need your extra boost in the higher RPMs, a turbocharger will be more your speed.

When it comes to reliability and maintenance, a supercharger wins out over a turbo. They're less complicated and have fewer moving parts than a turbo, so they're generally less susceptible to developing issues.

But what about the all-important question of power gains? A supercharger can spin at rates of up to 50,000 rotations per minute, while a turbo tops out at 15,000 RPMs. That's a considerable difference, but that's tempered by the fact that turbos handle thin air better. In a very general sense, experts pinpoint the extra power to an engine from a turbo at 50 percent, while the super clocks in at 46 percent.

In the end, both are forced induction systems that will give your Challenger a serious boost, so it's hard to go wrong either way.
