1. Loosen the shift knob by turning it counter clockwise until it becomes free from the shift lever. Remove the shift boot and shift knob from the console plate by carefully lifting the boot at the sides of the plate.
2. Begin to remove the old leather boot from the plastic frame, keep your O-Ring around for later instruction.
3. Once the old boot is removed begin to remove some of the left over adhesive that may be stuck on both sides of the frame. Use your flat head screw driver to scratch left over leather. This will take some elbow grease and patience to fully remove the gunk left behind.
Hint: Use small amounts of “goof off” on certain spots; you can use goo gone as well.
1. Fasten your new Alterum Leather Shift Boot onto the frame by inserting the tabs into the slots. Take your time during this process and try to align them as close as possible. If need be, carefully use an X-ACTO to make the cut in the leather slightly bigger if necessary.
2. Spread on a small dab of contact cement or Crazy Glue on the bottom side of each corner of the frame and folding the leather tightly. I used large binder clips to hold the leather together while drying. Re use the O-ring that secured your old boot and re install it using super glue.
3. After glue is finally drying re-install your brand new Alterum Shift Boot back onto your center console and enjoy your new look.
