Roll Bars
Roll bars tend to be single metal bars, or sometimes even a couple, that sit behind the driver’s seat and passenger’s seat. This single metal bar prevents the roof from caving in if a vehicle happens to take a tumble. While most muscle cars with normal roofs don't come with them from the factory, you'll find that some convertible Mustangs, Challengers, and Camaros tend to have OEM roll bars because in the United States, vehicles have to pass rollover testing. Still, some manufacturers have strong enough windshield pillars to pass that testing, and while that may look good on paper, you may want to install an aftermarket roll bar just to be safe.
Roll Cages
Now, if you plan on doing some serious racing, it's a good idea to consider a roll cage. Unlike your average muscle car roll bar, roll cages tend to have way more metal tubes involved and they tend to form a cage around the vehicle. This cage acts as a protective shell and can handle serious accidents with ease, which is why they're possible for racing applications where a high-performance roll bar just isn't enough, no matter how well-made the part is.Roll cages for muscle cars come in a wide variety of styles and colors but the main thing they all have in common is their cage-like design, so you can easily tell them apart from your average OEM roll bar. For racing and other high-performance applications roll cages are worth the installation compared to roll bars because they offer better protection.
